Spanish police arrested Jose Luis Huertas ( same « Alcaseka », « Mango » or « Chimichuri » ), a 19-year-old teenager who is considered the most dangerous hacker in the country. It is reported that Huertas is responsible for several high-profile cyber attacks on Spanish government agencies, as well as for creating its own cybercrime system called « El ojo de Horus » ( « Eye of the Mountain » ), specifically designed for the sale of stolen confidential information.

A police investigation launched in November 2022 ultimately led to the identification and arrest of a young cybercriminal described as « a serious threat to Spain’s national security ». In the Wertas house, as well as other addresses registered to it, law enforcement officials seized large amounts of cash, documentation and computers that would help solve all the hacker crimes.

Investigators became seriously interested in Huertas after breaking into the computer network of the National Judicial Council of Spain ( CGPJ ). During this attack, the attacker stole data from 575 thousand taxpayers for the purpose of selling to other cybercriminals. The stolen information included personal data, account numbers, and more.

Huertas is also accused of posing as the CEO of Gestevisión Telecinco / Mediaset España and stealing 300 thousand euros from him. And multiple cyber attacks on Spanish government agencies and money laundering only complement the list of his crimes. With each attack, Huertas became bolder, even to the point that he even gave an interview on YouTube, in which he said that he had access to information by approximately 90% of all Spanish citizens.

According to local media reports, the Spanish police were able to calculate the young hacker by tracking the flow of funds for hosting services of the aforementioned system for selling information « Eye of the Mountain » created by Huertas. Although the cybercriminal used « cleaned » with the help of cryptocurrency mixing services, the police were still able to track some payments with the help of experts from the National Cryptological Center of Spain.

Huertas will remain in custody until trial, as investigators believe that there is a huge risk that he will escape, destroy evidence and continue to commit crimes of a similar nature. The judge also motivated his decision to leave the suspect in custody by the fact that the young man has significant reserves in cryptocurrency that would allow him to live anywhere in the world, always avoiding Spanish justice.
