In the Kharkiv region, cyber police caught a man in unauthorized interference with the work of a major telephone operator.
According to the agency, the man intercepted and replaced international voice traffic with national one. As a result of this, international calls were billed at low rates.
It was established that the 31-year-old resident of Kharkov worked as a leading specialist in one of the research institutes and had the corresponding technical skills.
“So, allegedly for the needs of the institute, the person rented a virtual server through which international calls passed, bypassing the International Switching Center, which led to a violation of the established routing procedure. As a result, international calls were charged as national. Also, unauthorized interference in the operator’s telecommunication network was confirmed by the commission Of the Ukrainian State Center of Radio Frequencies, "it was informed.
Law enforcement officers conducted searches of the places of residence and work of the man, during which they seized computer equipment, mobile phones and documentation. The seized is sent for examination.
Criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 361 (Unauthorized interference with the operation of computers, automated systems, computer networks or telecommunication networks) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The issue of declaring a man suspicion is being decided. He faces up to six years in prison.
