Greece extradited Alexander Vinnik of France accused of computer information fraud. Earlier in a Greek prison, a Russian was taken to Paris and is in the hospital, said his lawyer Zoe Constantopoulou.
“As my French colleague informed me, while the Greek authorities are hiding and pretending to know nothing, Alexander is in the Hotel-Dieu hospital in Paris,” Konstantopoulou said on her Facebook page.
She also noted that the French lawyer has not been able to communicate with the Russian. Vinnik, who was previously in a Greek prison, announced a hunger strike and said that he did not intend to stop it and was ready to die if he was not extradited to Russia.
Greek authorities arrested Alexander Vinnik during a vacation in July 2017 at the request of U.S. law enforcement agencies. In December 2017, the Greek court granted the request for the extradition of the Russian to the United States, and the Athens Supreme Court confirmed the legality of this decision.
Recall that the US authorities accused the Russian person of creating the BTC-E cryptocurrency exchange, which he used for illegal exchange and money laundering, and the French authorities - of fraud. Vinnik was also charged with theft of personal data of citizens, which he then returned for money.
