Thousands of miles away, the hacker rattled an entire suburb in Florida.

Last week, the Florida suburban police department received a phone call from a man who confessed to killing his wife. According to him, he planted explosives after learning about his wife's betrayal. However, in reality there was no crime, and the caller turned out to be a hacker who hacked into someone else's Ring CCTV camera.

According to NBC 2, Sarah Courtney, the "murdered" unfaithful wife, received a call from the police asking if she was alive. The nearby school of her children and the entire area were swarming with law enforcement officers. However, when the police arrived at the alleged crime scene, Mrs. Courtney was in perfect health.

The police failed to establish the identity of the caller, but according to some reports, the attacker was in Sweden. As it turned out, an unknown person got access to the Ring's CCTV camera in Courtney's house and saw her leave and come. The hacker managed to hack the home Internet connection and change the password to the device. As soon as the attacker saw that the woman had returned home, he called the police. While the police were examining the house, the "joker" teased them by talking to them through a hacked device.

Wicked pranks using hacked Ring smart door locks have exploded in the past year, and an Alabama resident even sued their manufacturer for failing to implement adequate hacker protection in their products.
