Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’s mobile phone was hacked using a malicious video sent via a message in the WhatsApp messenger. The malicious file was allegedly sent from the account of Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, The Guardian reported.

According to the results of a digital examination, it became known that a large amount of data was extracted from the Bezos phone after hacking. The alleged hack occurred on May 1, 2018, when a friendly correspondence was conducted between the CEO of Amazon and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. It remains unknown what data was stolen.

“Recent media reports that suggest that the Kingdom is behind hacking Mr. Jeff Bezos’s phone are absurd. We urge an investigation into this situation to find out all the facts, ” the Saudi embassy in the USA commented on the situation.

According to one of Bezos’s lawyers, the Director General is currently cooperating with law enforcement agencies during the investigation and will not comment on this incident.
