In connection with the incident, NULS developers plan to implement a hard fork.

Unknown cybercriminals "cleared" the accounts belonging to the developers of the NULS cryptocurrency by stealing 2 million tokens (about $ 480 thousand). More than half a million of them have already been put on the market, so it is impossible to track them.

In order to “freeze” the remainder of the cryptocurrency, NULS developers plan to implement hard fork (a change in the cryptocurrency protocol that is incompatible with its previous versions). In this regard, network participants need to update their nodes to the latest software version as soon as possible.

According to the developers, the attackers have exploited the now-fixed vulnerability in version NULS 2.2.

The decision of the NULS team to implement hard fork is similar to the decision made by the Ethereum developers after hacking the decentralized autonomous organization DAO in 2016.

After the attackers stole $ 40 million from the DAO on the air, Ethereum developers divided the blockchain into two versions. The first version (Ethereum) allowed all users affected by the attack to regain their savings, and the second (Ethereum Classic) continued to support the original blockchain. This hard fork remains controversial to this day - opponents consider it evidence of the centralization of Ethereum management. True, NULS cryptocurrency is much less popular than Ethereum, and its hard fork is unlikely to cause much noise.
