The company believes that this is a violation of the privacy policy and the laws of Singapore, where the Telegram servers are located.

Telegram has been ordered by the Delhi High Court to disclose data about channels that distribute infringing material, TechCrunch reports.

Telegram representatives, in turn, said that such a requirement violates the privacy policy of the service and the laws of Singapore, on whose territory the messenger servers are located.

The report says that the lawsuit was filed by an Indian teacher who claims that her lectures and books in various disciplines are distributed in the channels of the messenger at reduced prices. Despite Telegram's arguments, the court did not accept them and noted that copyright owners cannot be left "completely without remedies against actual infringers."

As noted, the number of users of the service in India reaches 700 million people.
